I'm not one for cut and dry reviews, but I don't see any reason why I should go into great detail about my experience at Sneakers. 1. There's quite a big menu, and there are TV's at every booth. 2. It's a trifle overpriced for the type of food they serve. 3. The service was pretty sub-par, especially for being a quiet Monday lunch hour. 4. The food was super duper flavorful, and the fries were awesome. Bing, bang, boom! We're done here; nothing to see. Move along.

Our family has eaten here quite often. Like others have said the food is on the pricey side and for a family of 5 that includes teens we have visited much less these days. Went here last Friday at 11:30am for a business lunch. There was a total of 2 tables being used in the entire place and when we requested a larger booth for the 4 of us because we had some paperwork to look at we were told that it would not be possible due to the lunch rush. After further requests based on the lack of rush at the moment and promising that we would not tie up the table for long we sat down at one of the front booths. I can understand that he did not want to miss out on a larger tip which we were more than happy to compensate for. We ordered quickly and unfortunately the food landed with a thud on the table with the bill. There was no further service nor communication to ask if we wanted anything, drink, napkin, take home...very disappointing...by the way the lunch rush never came.

Yummmm!! Awesome cheeseburger, decently priced drinks, and not super noisy. Our waiter was attentive and personable, and food was served in a reasonable amount of time. Boyfriend was very happy to discover that each booth had its own flat screen, and half were are showing the Sharks game, live, while the other half were broadcasting the live Giants game. I had been to Sneakers years ago, but after going back recently, I felt the need to give them a public "thumbs up" for a great Friday night out.

GONE DOWN HILL!!! STAFF SLEEPING IN THE BOOTHS AND DRINKING BEERS!?!? Lived in San Carlos all my life and have always gone to sneakers. I've noticed that the service has definitely gone down hill in the past few years but NOTHING compared to what my friend and I witnessed yesterday! For starters we stood at the front for five minutes while the entire staff was behind the bar just laughing and having good times. We ordered a salad with dressing on the side, which came with the dressing on it, whatever not a huge deal...what WAS a huge deal for us was the staff member passed out sleeping in the booth across from us...um not very professional and def don't want to stare at that while eating my $15 salad. Then we saw a guy that works in the kitchen come out and just chug half a beer and go back to work...we asked to speak to the manager but HE WOULD NOT COME OUT OF HIS OFFICE To see why we wanted to complain. We told the waitress that that was just unacceptable to us and to please go back and tell him we really wanted to speak with him. Again he had her tell us no, had us leave our phone numbers and he would call us tomorrow... Well tomorrow is here and no call from him all day. So I'm posting this because it seems like no one there cares about the reputation of that place....but I for one am not going to pay their prices to watch their employees sleep, drink and not even check on their tables! Hopefully the owner sees this and the pic of their employee sleeping and cleans up his staff!

I was another unfortunate witness to the "Happy Hour That Wasn't" on the NLCS clinching night for the Giants. And sadly, I can verify the accounts already posted, so will refrain from rehashing them yet again. I will just say that it was shameful that the manager would send out a still-new on the job, young server out to a large and rightfully upset group of people to handle the sticky situation. I don't know if it was the server's fault for wrongfully advertising happy hour or not, but I do know that if you're going to rescind the bar's normal happy hours to ramp up sales on a game night that is sure to be packed, you should not have a sign out that say 'Happy Hour 'til 6' when people start arriving at 4 (as another person claimed), and you better be clear as day to your staff that there is no happy hour tonight. Clearly those things weren't done. This is the restaurant's fault, and the manager is responsible for the restaurant. So be a man... be a manager. Do your job and take care of the situation quickly, correctly, and in person... not by making threats, delegating to a clearly overwhelmed staff member, and by hiding out in the back of the building. He did make it very clear, in his own words, that he did not care about his customers. It's a shame, because the food was decent, the facilities were great, and the atmosphere for the game was electric...but how in good conscience can I care about a business when the man running it doesn't care about me? I'll be going elsewhere in the future.

I had gone here a few times and recently, my co workers and I had a get together here. We ordered so many appetizers, entrees, and desserts. I had mozzarella sticks, apple juice, buffalo wings, and a chicken cordon bleu sandwich. The service was attentive and they refilled my apple juice constantly. We had a group of 12 people and they did not forget us at all and did everything they can to satisfy our hungry staff. The chicken cordon bleu was huge! It was crispy and had a nice bite to it. It came with so many fries as well. I could not finish my meal so I had to take the rest home. Perfect midnight snack and loved it! By the way, there are many tv sets in the restaurant so you won't be bored waiting for your food. The bathrooms are plenty and are kept well clean.

For 3 years now, I have been coming to sneakers for a great sporting atmosphere and decent food. The last 4 or 5 times that I have been there, the service has been absolutely terrible. Last time I was there, the service was so bad that I had decided not to tip. I have always been an 15-18% tipper and have NEVER in my life not tipped. That should tell you how bad the service was. Just today, I left with my wife after sitting down for 10 minutes and nobody coming to greet us or take our drink order. They were definitely not overstaffed. To further the frustration, when I asked to speak to the manager (who I saw was in the restaurant), they told me that the manager was not there. Too good. I see the manager, who doesn't want to speak to me and they are telling me that the manager is not there. Wow. I will not give this place another go probably for another 2 or 3 months. It's a shame, because I really enjoyed coming there and now I find it absolutely a horrifying experience for the last 4 or 5 times. Consistently bad service.

We found ourselves across the Bay for our chiropractic appts. on the last day of the baseball season with our team's standings in the balance. All at the chiropractors office recommended Sneakers as a good place to go and highlighted the individual TV aspect. Since our team is not one of the locals we were sold. We were very happy to get a booth, good deals on big strong margarita's ( we just caught the end of happy hour) and great food. We were able to enjoy our team's (out of market)game since you can select the game you'd like to watch & we also enjoyed very good service. We shared the beer batter veggies as an appetizer and I had the French Dip with salad while hubby had the NY Burger with slaw. I was happy to see the salad was very fresh & the ranch dressing served with the appetizer was fresh butter milk ranch and not the loathesome gloppy bottle dressing. I was very impressed with the quality of the food and the service for a pub. Yes, the prices are a little high ( the French Dip was $13.95) however, the beer batter veggies were a generous portion compared to the same dish at other places for the same price and were not greasy at all. Very hot, crispy and delicious. Our server, Noe was very attentive as well as others who helped us during the evening. While we live far away enough that it we probably won't ever become regulars, we will sure remember Seakers next time we are in the neighborhood. They definiftly suited our need for the evening and exceeded our expectations.

If you're in the mood for pizza and beer with a Giants or 9ers game on in the background this is the place. I had the Buffalo Chiken pizza and their wing sauce is SOOOO Spicy...hurts coming out the other end too. But it's yummy. The cheese fries are delicious too, they actually melt real cheese on the fries, not some canned gooey crap. The saddest part was we were there last night, a Saturday night and there were many open tables. =( Economy is starting to hit I guess....

Wandered over here for lunch to catch up with a friend, seems like a decent place to meet up with a group to watch sports and grab some grub. We ordered a bunch of appetizers instead of any actual food items, but since those worked out well I'm pretty sure actual entrées would be good.

I love Sneakers and have been going here for what seems like all of my life. Great full bar with pretty good beers on tap. Lots of tvs, friendly and accommodating staff, good food. I recommend the chicken tenders appetizer (as a meal), Tijuana burger, the pizzas (wood fire oven), fajita wraps, and anything that comes with the ranch dressing (they make it on site). Fries are tasty and the meat and vegetables are fresh. Usually lots of kids for lunch and early dinner, but they go away by 7:00pm. Good prices and fun atmosphere.

I'm surprised I havent reviewed Sneakers yet.. I've been coming here for a few years but haddnt been in a while. I will say, great place to watch sports, hang out with friends, have a bite. The drinks are good, service is friendly and the food is very good but jesus, over $40 for 2 burgers and 2 drinks??? Good thing we didnt order salad or an appetizer...

One of the bartenders actually went to high school with my brother and was in the same grade. He's only 18/19 years old how'd he become a bartender ??? Something doesn't look right and I think he's only bartender once a week but still not right.

If this place was soo far away from where I live I would definitely come here more often! I came here alot during the Sharks Playoff series. The food was awesome. My gf and me split a pizza and a salad together. The portions are HUGE for the price. I love that there is individual TVS at each table. The downside to this place is the audio I mean unless your seating right at the bar. You cant hear anything! GO SHARKS!

  • Mike C.

Recommended by some coworkers to come in. This place is definitely a sports bar. It even has tv's with ESPN at the booths. Ordered tex-mex chimichanga and a cup of clam chowder. The clam chowder was ok but the chimichanga was delicious. The portion size was large. Definitely will fill you up. Didn't try the drinks but it definitely has a good variety. It's a good place to go to get a bite to eat with a drink while watching the game.

6 of us ate here on a Friday night around 8, there was hardly any wait (just long enough for us to order drinks). The atmosphere was great, very sports bar like but not super noisy. Drinks were good, although not sure about the price. They had a huge menu and I was very excited to see that there was an entire section just for wraps! I had the Buffalo Wrap which was surprisingly a bit spicy for my taste but overall good, the fries definitely made it better. The BF had the French Dip and said it was one of the best he's ever had. No one in our party had any complaints. All in all I would come back to Sneakers and have nothing negative to say.

Aww, fool. As in awful. I can't believe how rude our server was. My guest and I were seated pretty quickly at 1:30 for a late lunch and within five minutes the server came by atleast 4 times for our orders. I'm sorry, could you give us a second to look at your menu? Or decide on a drink? It's not like we have 7 kids, or are super dirty, I'm on my lunch break. I got a turkey sandwich which was super dry, and had a super boring side salad. My friend got a Mexican sandwich that looked pretty unappealing. To top it all off, the server didn't even ask me if I wanted another $5.25 Coors Light (yeah, it was that expensive)...so you know what Sneakers? Pudley's is right around the corner and I'd rather have no server than as much as I did for someone who just wanted us out.

If you are local and don't feel like driving far to be near a sporty bar, this is one of the few places to go. Young enough crowd for those seeking single people. Food is above average to somewhat good but the prices are way too high if you compare it to other restaurants. Good selection of wines.

    (3)
  • Heather H.

Went here with my kids on a Saturday so it was super crowded. I ordered a turkey burger with looked and tasted like a tasteless brick. The kids meals were pricey for what they were. I could see the appeal of coming here if you were a big sports fan and wanted your own screen built into the wall of your booth. But our food was terrible!

They have pretty good food for a bar. I got their "are you serious" burger. I think that is what it was called. The burger was good, a little dry but good. Their garlic fries are also good. For the price the portions are big and filling. The potato skins for appetizers are amazing delicious.

Searching for a gigantore salad to match your big ole appetite??? Wanna grab a cold beer and a burger or fatty sandwich while watching Futbol, Football, or Baseball? This should be your new go-to-spot for the area! Not only do they have a huge variety or sandwiches, burgers, salads but also some yummy tex mex dishes and some of the best milkshakes in the area! Mosdef - a good, reliable, yummy lunch spot or place to watch "the game" after work.

Nice place. Kind servers. Burgers are good. Pizzas are good. French Fries are very good. Chicken Wings are forgettable. Will not get it again. Nothing like San Tung's in SF. Macaroni and Cheese for my kid has no taste. Yuck. Beer Battered Veggie combo was disgusting! Yucky batter and soggy. Had to pick it apart to remove the veggies. Go to Jersey Joe's for yummy beer battered onion rings or mushrooms. Owner, worker or chef of sneakers, if you are reading this, have you tasted your beer battered stuff lately?

This is a solid place to go for lunch - been going here for a couple years now, just finally got around to reviewing it... Big menu - this place has all sorts of burgers, entrees, sandwiches, salads, appetizers, etc - think of a supersized pub style menu! The food is good, it's a little pricey, service is good when the place isn't packed...when it's packed in here, it gets a little slow. Basically a place where you know what you're going to get - but it's not a gourmet place by a long shot...

This is one of those places that seems like a great idea when you are grasping for a meeting spot with extended family and friends. The menu is deep with pretty consistant food. High points: Burgers and salads, Low points: Soups-huck! why even try? Cocktails: Stick with beer. Several on tap to choose from including RED HOOK! Stay away from the mixed drinks. The martini's are served in the dinkiest glasses I have ever seen and they plop in two plum sized olives so I am sure the bottle of Grey Goose yields about 1,500 martinis. They need to hire about 5 more waitpeople. They have filled in the blanks with busboys who run the food to the tables and can't fathom why you aren't happy with the chicken since your request to the inattentive waitress was a cheeseburger. Hello, any chance we can get the waitress over anytime today so we can get another one of the king-sized olive beverages in the vodka coated glasses? I find it interesting that they neglect to skewer the olives with a toothpick or plastic sword since it would mean more displacement in the tiny glass and possibly 1,700 servings outta the old Grey Goose bottle. Yeah, the little TV's are great if you are a sports fan looking for a game or if you need a sponge-bob fix.

This place is definitely not bad.. A huge selection of tasty foods, full bar, tons of flat screens for sports lovers and a great staff. Me and some friends were looking for a spot just to chill and get some food. This place definitely served that purpose.

Kids at a sports bar? It's genius! Alcohol for the adults, tv's for the kids (and adults) and good food all around! The portions are generous and the food is pretty tasty. Nothing gourmet but the staples (soup, sandwiches, etc.) are definitely sure to hit the spot.

My wife came here on a Saturday afternoon and split a hamburger and large salad. The cook did a great job, one of the best hamburgers I have ever had. I don't normally give five stars to sports bar, but the food that day was great. I hope you have the same experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was not too busy when we were there, but it could be loud if crowded. "Its a sports bar"

Great place to hang out with friends, delicious big burgers, good drinks, and there are TV's at every booth. My favorite: BBQ bacon cheeseburger (bacon, grilled onions, spicy bbq sauce, and cheese)

My hetero-life mate Marcus and his girlfriend love this place, so this is where we usually end up when meeting for dinner and I want to watch the Sharks game. We always sit at the bar and the same guy always tends bar. He'd good, mixes a good drink, they have a nice selection of whiskey's and vodkas as well. The beer selection is also pretty good. The food is hit and miss. Some nights to burgers are great, other nights, not so much. I had their taco salad last night and the thing was frickin' huge. I'm a big guy and made it through only half of the damn thing. Lots of TV's with games on and the wait time is always manageable. Great place to go in a city with not many options.

Wow. Who knew a fried egg on a bacon cheeseburger could actually be good? Man oh man but it is! If you like well-done burgers, be sure to ask...I love mine pink so I was tickled when mine came that way, but once you've cut the egg and the yolk is running all over its tough to send back! Good fries, good ranch dressing and their milkshakes are great! I will say that I saw a woman with a salad that may actually have been eating her...it was that big! Looked tasty, but don't order a salad for your "light" meal or you'll end up stopping to buy bigger pants on the way home. In fact...if you want "light" or "diet"...just go elsewhere. Serious food...

  • Jenn T.

This place gets high marks for its laid back atmosphere and great food. There are flat screen TVs at every booth, plus plenty of larger flat screens hanging around the restaurant. There's an upstairs area with more seating. You can pretty much see any game from any angle. My husband and I love this place. I think their salads are fresh and portioned well. We've tried several of their burgers and the spicy chicken sandwich - very good. We can see why it's such a favorable family restaurant...you can put cartoons on at your booth and still watch the sports game on the larger screens. We tend to go a bit later in the evening (after 8am) and probably miss most of the family diners. In fact, we're heading there again tonight!

Eaten @ Sneakers now twice, dine in the 1st time & to go order the next..... HUh, overpriced 4 average food @ best.. Today I ordered The Tijuana Burger the cook left out the ingredients No Guac or Salsa WTF?$12 burger its a freakin joke, Will go back prolley not. Their Hamburger is very basic not much to say loss of words + Bun was shitty & cheap. They went outta business once we'll see wat happens down the road... Can't understand these other reviewers its not more then 2 star place if that. If I find myself by there again I'll try the New Indian Place & other restaurant that flank it.. I'm outta here enjoy good food elsewhere...

I normally don't eat hamburger, but I had fish and veggie the whole week and since I was at a pub, why not. The hamburger is huge, they toast the bun, the fries was real like the way mom use to make it, though she would cut mine kind of thinner because she didn't want me to work too hard in chewing it. :) She wouldn't like it that I had a beer too. :(

We wanted to catch the last few minutes of a close Warriors game one evening and luckily found this sports pub. Each booth has its own little TV. Full bar, proper selection of beers on tap and decent pub grub, albeit a little pricey for what it is. Ordered a French Dip Sandwich ($12) which was sliced roast beef with provolone, grilled onions (I 86'd that), au jus and fries. Meat was ok, nice portion and the au jus was the typical salty bouillon dip, but the french roll was the star of this sandwich. Nice crust on the outside with perfect chew in the center and when dipped in that meaty salty goodness, did not crumble and fall apart, like cheap American mass produced bread. The fries were meh, next time I may try the potato salad. My buddies each had a burger, one a jalapeno and the other a chili. Also started around 12 bucks. When did burgers start costing more than 10 bucks? I mean its just ground beef, literally the scraps and ends ground beyond recognition, but with all the fat and when grilled properly, just hits the spot at times. What happened to the $6-$8 casual restaurant burger? Carl's Jr. is gonna have to rename their spoof of a "six dollar burger" to "a twelve dolla burger" but they'll only charge 7 for it. Damn economy and rising prices! The portions are large however and after devouring our plates and a 24 oz of a cold frosty one, no one was complaining. Decent service (5 different servers checked up on us), happy guts and a sports game. Sometimes the simpler stuff just fits the bill, in this case, a sandwich and beer, is a twenty dollar bill.

We went for a quick drink and snack. We ordered a gin & tonic and some calamari rings. The gin had so much Ice we had to take it out, it wasn't mixed very well. The calamari rings have been the worst I've experienced so far in a pub. They're look and taste like store bought rings. The had so much batter and salt they were at least half batter. The squid was tough. We paid $10. After leaving the batter alone and only eating the squid we left the place not feeling satisfied at all. They put more effort into the garnishing than I've seen a calamari plate before. As a customer ordering calamari, I just want good calamari, not pretty looking but bad calamari. If you get the food right first, you won't need to pretty it up as it will sell itself. The staff were polite and did their job well no complaints. The food is NOT bad if you don't mind that sort of over prepared food. Most people don't care, so most people will probably just eat it and say it's awesome. We left without finishing and drove to Steelhead Brewery in Burlingame who's Calamari was way more natural just being squid with a very light batter. We paid $12.50 for that plate, and was very satisfied and didn't feel one bit disappointed. The first thing we noticed when the plate came out was the calamari, not the garnishing which was very simple. The focus was all on the Calamari. The best Calamari I've had so far in a pub so far has been at the 21st Amendment on 2nd street San Francisco.

Walked in during the lunch rush and was seated immediately. They have a very good pear and candied walnut salad (even better with grilled chicken). Definitely a local fave for me and my team.
